We have shown
in both TICA and CFA.

However, due to the politics that are involved, we have chosen to better spend the large amounts of money spoiling our cats with toys and playthings than spending it on showing.

When we started showing, we were so excited as we thought it would be a wonderful way to meet new people, enjoy the cats and have a fun time. Unfortunately we were wrong about this. In our experience the showhall is a very politically and tense place. There are breeders that are so set on winning a regional award or making it to Supreme Champion that they would pretty much pull anything. There is backbiting, gossiping and rule breaking at every turn. This has pretty much saddened us and disillusioned us on showing.

Now I know that many breeders will tell you that it is very important for a breeder to show so they will know if they are breeding to standard and to type. I do not believe this is so though for a number of reasons. I have been in shows where the winning cat had hairy tails, feet and did not fit the standard but won because the owner was head clerk of the show and running for an elected position in the organziation. I have seen situations like this many times. The best cat does not always win and most breeders that are honest will tell you this straight up. There are just more politics involved than I care to be involved with. I would rather spend my time playing with kittens, getting to know pet owners, and taking care of my cattery then trying to charm some judge into giving me a ribbon! ~: )

Showhalls also carry various diseases. We have personally seen cats being shown in showhalls with URIs, sneezing, coughing and even with visible ringworm. These diseases are very easily spread and it is not unusual for a breeder go to a show with a healthy cat only to get home with a sick or infected one.

And last, because we choose to work with a new breed that is being developed, we have been cursed at, lied to and about and threatened by various members of cat organizations even up to certain presidents. We feel that it is foolish to support such bad behaviour by continuing to spend large amounts of money where we are not treated courteously.

However, if you decide that the showhall is right for you and have any questions, we will be glad to help you by answering your questions, explaining the process and what you need to get started. The most important advise we can give you though is this - ENJOY your cat! Play with it, love it and just enjoy it. If you both have fun, do what is right for you.
